Boston Forge Accelerator

The Forge team is accepting proposals for the upcoming Accelerator taking place in the Autodesk Boston office from April 30 - May 4, 2018.

It is a great opportunity for your software development team to learn and work intensively on a Forge-based project with one-on-one support and advice from Autodesk Forge API experts.  If you have an idea for a new web or mobile application based on Autodesk Forge APIs, or you need help getting an existing application working, then come along to the event. There is no cost to attend the Accelerator other than your own travel and living expenses. However, we do ask that you submit a proposal as part of your application so that we can verify that the intended use of the Autodesk Forge APIs in your project is feasible.

We are excited to announce the 2014 Autodesk® Exchange Apps Hackathon. While similar in concept to the Portathon that we held in 2013, this event is bigger, better, has new competitions and great prizes. Anyone can participate from anywhere in the world and at any time both before the event and during the Hackathon days. We’ve assembled a great line up of speakers to give presentations and demos on hot topics that will help your overall app development and technical experts will be on hand to help and guide you.

The Autodesk Exchange Apps Hackathon is a virtual web based Hackathon.  It’s a community event that gives you the opportunity to work closely with other members of the software development community and Autodesk engineers — in real time, developing new apps for Autodesk Exchange. 

The Hackathon will run from 9:00 a.m. U.S. Pacific Time (PT) on Saturday, September 20, 2014 to 4 p.m. PT on September 21, 2014. You can participate from anywhere you have internet access.  

The Hackathon is a free event.  Plus, there is a reward!  For all new apps submitted to the Autodesk Exchange Apps store by midnight on September 30, 2014 and accepted for publication in the store by November 30, 2014, you will receive US$ 100 per “non-Free” app and US $50 “Free or Trial” app for up to 5 apps per company.

Infraworks 360 REST API – Tech Preview available

It’s our pleasure to announce that Infraworks 360 now have an REST API open for developers, which creates an opportunity for you to integrate your business with this big data approach.

This tech preview will enable read access to all major objects, including roads, terrain, city furniture, buildings, pipes and others, through a dedicated sandbox server using modern REST protocols.

Below is the general architecture of the API: it will read information from the server from any custom app. It will not be hosted or access the desktop or iPad versions.

Sample demonstration

To demonstrate the benefits of this API, we created a sample web app (browser-based) that reads model data from IW360, more specifically the buildings, and connect with FourSquare to get close venues and finally use Google Maps to show to the user. This allow you to compare buildings with near venues.

Try it yourself: go to this address using your Autodesk account. To use it, first you must have Infraworks 360 models linked to your account. To do so, you’ll need the beta version, available under Autodesk Beta program. Or watch the video recording below.
